Prince Finally Earns His Letter in Pinot Noir

There was an inauspicious event at this year’s World of Pinot Noir that was not attended by the wine press and not publicized. The Prince was awarded his letter in Pinot Noir! You remember the days: cherry cokes and cheeseburgers at the local drive-in, sock hop dances to the sounds of Chapel of Love and Runaround Sue, and making out in your Dad’s car at the nearest drive-in. This generation will never know the joys of the 50’s and 60’s. And when you finally lettered in a varsity sport, you could strut around campus with a letterman jacket and the girls would swoon over you. I had a letter in high school football and a “L” on my jacket to prove it, but now, in my sixties, I longed for those innocent days. The one thing I didn’t have was a letter in Pinot Noir. It was the one badge that I wanted. The nice thing about being royalty is that you can pretty much dictate what you desire. So there I was, with several other Pinot geeks, slugging down very respectable Pinot Noir instead of cherry cokes, and prancing around in my new letterman jacket. Life is good, and girls, bring on the swooning. StmlImage: invalid literal for int() with base 10: 'thumb_paul_lato.jpg'
