2014 MacPhail Toulouse Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

14.8% alc., pH 3.82, TA 0.58, 459 cases, $49. Release spring 2017. Clones are Pommard, 115, 667, 777 and Wädenswil 2A. Aged 11 months on the lees in French oak barrels, 38% new. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. There is more oak in this wine than I like, but otherwise it is a captivating wine. Aromas of boysenberry, blackberry, cola and toasty oak are replicated in the mid weight loquacious flavors. There is admirable lift and juiciness, with silky tannins, with oak striving for attention on the finish. A little less oak intrusion was noted on the following day when tasted from a previously opened and re-corked bottle. Score: 90. Reviewed December 13, 2016
