2012 Kosta Browne Garys’ Vineyard Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir

14.5% alc., 793 cases, $84. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Striking raspberry aroma on the nose with a touch of spice. Mid weight flavors of black raspberry, black cherry, brown spice and anise backed by smoky oak. The tannins are refined and the finish is pleasurable. The wine seems a bit closed and impenetrable at this stage and should benefit from more time in the cellar. Tasted twice with this review based on the best of two bottles. Score: 90.
