2012 Josh Cellars California Pinot Noir

13.5% alc., $18. Blended and bottled by Joseph Carr. Common on supermarket shelves in Southern California. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Aromas of black cherry, wood spice, nut oils and vitamin cabinet. Velvety on the palate with decent flavors of blackest cherry, black raspberry and blackberry backed by sweet oak, with notes of marzipan and green herbs in the background. The tannins are balanced and the wine finishes with a cut of acidity. Overall, the wine seems a bit weird but I can’t put my finger on the reason(s). Score: 85. Reviewed March 16, 2015
