2013 Hartford Court Jennifer’s Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

14.6% alc., pH 3.66, TA 0.57, 293 cases, $70. Released January 2016. Sourced from grower vineyards south of Sebastopol in the Petaluma Wind Gap. A very cool site that is windy and foggy, ripening late in the season. Grapes are thick skinned and high in acidity. Clone 23. Native yeast fermentation. Aged 17 months in French oak barrels, 39% new. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. · Dark reddish purple color in the glass. Embracing aromas of black cherry and dark chocolate lead to a full-bodied wine balanced with muscular tannins and bright acidity. Flavors of anise and dried herbs augment the black cherry core. This wine will certainly improve with more time in bottle and prove to have age ability, but it is hard to resist now. Score: 93. Reviewed June 19, 2016
