Roche Carneros Estate Winery
Joseph and Genevieve Roche were practicing physicians who moved their family to their newly purchased ranch in southern Sonoma Valley in 1977. They initially continued the property's long history of cattle ranching. In 1982 they were encouraged to plant grapes and that year planted 10 acres of Pinot Noir and 10 acres of Chardonnay. The Carneros appellation at that time did not exist and no other vineyards were nearby. They opened the Roche Carneros Estate Winery in 1989. Roche produces ten varieties of wine, including an Estate Pinot Noir and Estate Reserve Pinot Noir, with a total output of 10,000 cases per year. Visit the winery or tasting room to acquire or phone 800-825-9475. A new modern winemaking facility and hospitality venue is going to be constructed an the Roche 500-acre estate across the street from the current winery location. A new tasting room has been opened in downtown Sonoma just off the Sonoma Plaza offering indoor and outdoor tasting. |
