Downie was an accomplished Pinot Noir winemaker trained in Burgundy at De Bortoli when he ventured out on his own in 2003 and bought land in Gippsland. He produces a substantial amount of Australian Pinot Noir destined for export to the U.S. market. He also has a Mornington Peninsula cuvee to partner with his Yarra Valley wine.
