Merriman Wines
Mike Merriman formed a friendship with winemaker Aaron Berlin when they were youngsters in Texas. Merriman was a Texas-born beer enthusiast who came across wine accidently when attending a fermentation course at University of Oregon. He was then to make a small amount of wine with the Owen Roe team. In the early 1990s, Berlin moved to Oregon to work in the wine industry. After working at Argyle Winery, Berlin became the assistant winemaker at Owen Roe where he met Merriman. Merriman worked with Berlin several harvests before buying his own vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton and moving to Oregon in 2006. Together, they launched Merriman Wines with the 2006 vintage. Production is small from the Merriman Vineyard and consists of a Merriman Vineyard Pinot Noir, a Cummins Road Pinot Noir, a Pinot Noir Rosé and a second label, Cummins Road Pinot Noir. The wines are available through the website by e-mail and through limited retail distribution. |
