R. Stuart & Co.

Rob and Maria Stuart founded R. Stuart & Co. in 2002 in an old granary in downtown McMinnville in a neighborhood known as the "Pinot Quarter." Rob Stuart handles the winemaking and Maria manages public relations and collaborates with Trish Rogers on sales and marketing. Fruit is sourced from 20 vineyards within 32 miles of McMinnville and several vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs are produced each vintage. The flagship varietals are a Pinot Noir, a Pinot Gris, and a sparkling wine, Rose d'Or. The blended Pinot Noir, Autograph, is considered the quintessential Rob Stuart & Co. Pinot Noir. The everyday Pinot Noir wines are labeled Big Fire and Love, Oregon.

The winery's wine bar is located at 528 NE 3rd St. in McMinnville and is open daily except Monday. The wines are also available through the online store.

Very delicate, bordering austere flavors of cherry and strawberry with soft tannins and a gentle riff of backing oak. There is no finishing fruit presence. This wine is well made, and displays the signature red fruit of the Dundee Hills, but doesn’t deliver enough fruit pleasure to excite. 2008 R. Stuart & Co. Temperance Hill Vineyard Eola Hills Pinot Noir

Like most Pinots from the 2008 vintage in Oregon, this wine is quite concentrated with a big-boned core of sweet plum fruit. A good cut of acidity and complimentary tannic backbone moderate the heft. Still needs more time in bottle. Very good. Reviewed August 23, 2012 ARTICLE »
