Bannock Brae Estate
A small family business dedicated to producing Pinot Noir from the Bannockburn region of Central Otago since 1997. Owner Crawford Brown was a Master Brewer for Lion Nathan, and prior to that, Speight's Brewery manager for a number of years. The estate vineyard consists of 21 acres of which 97% is planted to Pinot Noir (UCD 5 & 6 and Dijon 115).Production is 3,000 cases annually.
Reviewed Wines2002 Bannock Brae Estate Barrel Select Central Otago New Zealand Pinot Noir 14.0% alc., $28. Imported by L&R Imports, Denver, CO. The second vintage from this producer. · The aromas are perfumed with wild strawberries and lilacs. The red berry and plum fruit flavors are very delicate. The wine is soft in the mouth, finishing short. The aromatics trump the flavors. Reviewed April 16, 2006
