Roger Scommengna planted a small vineyard on the top of Cold Spring Mountain off Signal Ridge Road in the Mendocino Ridge AVA in 1999. The elevation is 2,642 feet making it the highest altitude vineyard in Mendocino, Sonoma and Napa counties.
Roger Scommengna owns and operates several businesses throughout Anderson Valley including The Boonville Hotel, Table 128 Restaurant, and Boonville Bite Hard Apple Cider. In 2001, he partnered with Joel Gott and Charles Bieler to create the Three Thieves company that produces wine under several labels including Bandit, Three Thieves and Newman's Own Wines.
The winemaker is Nicole Scommengna and assistant winemaker Stephanie Rivin. The first Signal Ridge Pinot Noir is from the 2013 vintage. Other wines are made from sourced grapes including a second label Pinot Noir, Watchtower. Grapes have been sold to Bravium as well.
