Gainey Vineyard
Founded in 1984 by Dan J. Gainey and Dan H. Gainey, Gainey Vineyard is a pioneer in establishing the Santa Ynez Valley as a world-class wine region and is the largest diversified farming operation at 2,000 total acres in Santa Barbara County. The winery's 145 acres of vineyards are located in the Santa Ynez Valley split between the warm eastern part of the valley (Home Ranch) and the cool, western region that is part of the Sta. Rita hills sub-AVA (Evan's Ranch). The Home Ranch is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. The Evan's Ranch is planted to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. Planting of this vineyard is ongoing. Kirby Anderson (Burgundian varieties) and Jon Engelskirger (Bordeaux varieties) are the winemakers and Jeff Newton is the vineyard manager. Production is 18,000 cases annually. The winery is known for its Limited Selection Pinot Noir. Visit the website for an informative animated look at the Santa Ynez Valley. The wines are available online. |
