This 35-acre estate is located in Sherwood, OR. Built in the 1930s, it was renowned for its Japanese gardens. The property was bought by Dr. Marvin and Deborah Hausman. The Hausmans renovated the property to pursue the breeding and training of competition dressage horses. The first grape vines were planted in 1998 and the inaugural vintage was 2001. Clones planted are 113, 777 and Pommard. Joe Dobbes of Dobbes Family Estate crafts the wines under the Quailhurst Wines label, and receives grapes from Quailhurst Vineyard for a vineyard-designate bottling of Pinot Noir.

2010 Quailhurst Vineyard Estate TJ’s Reserve Chehalem Mountains Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

13.2% alc., $60. · Moderately light reddish-purple color in the glass. Shy aromas of red fruit, oak and walnuts. Mid weight flavors of red fruits including sweet cherries and cranberries with complimentary oak in background. A feminine style with supple tannins, a good cut of acidity, and impressive cherry fruit on the finish. This wine grows on you the more time you spend with it. Very good.
