2000 Lafon Volnay Santenots-du-Mileu

A vintage complicated by rain and hail making necessary a rush to pick to avoid botrytis. · Lightest in color of the four wines tasted. Marked by elegance and extremely drinkable now with gossamer tannins and lively acidity. Very fresh tasting and still will offer good drinking for several years. (Note: the 2000 vintage in Burgundy is often overlooked, but the wines are drinking beautifully now and still can be bought on the secondary market at relatively inexpensive prices relative to more touted vintages.)
