2011 Joseph Jewell Appian Way Vineyards Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 13.44% alc., pH 3.48, TA 0.61, 125 cases, $39. Clones 777, 667 and 115. 100% de-stemmed, aged 10 months in 20% new French oak barrels. Unfined and unfiltered. · Moderately dark reddish purple color in the glass. The nose is vibrant with aromas of mixed berry jam, raspberry cobbler, purple grape and warm brioche. Juicy and silky on the mid palate with likable flavors of plum, blueberry and blackberry, finishing with good length and mouthwatering fruit richness. There is a deft touch of oak and supple tannins making for easy drinking. What’s not to like? Score: 91. Reviewed May 15, 2014
