Winemakers Aaron and Jesse Inman have made wine since 2006. They were raised by gold-mining parents. The wine company was named after on of the more memorable mines of their youth. “Wines made with intention, not pretension.” Aged 10 months in French oak barrels. · Light ruby red color in the glass. An easygoing, elegantly styled wine with aromas and flavors of dark red cherry and raspberry framed by silken tannins and a sniff of oak. 2015 Tessier Winery Morelli Lane Vineyard Green Valley of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 13.7% alc., 197 cases, $45. 15% whole cluster. Clones 113 and Pommard. Native primary and secondary fermentations. Aged in 37.5% new French oak barrels. · Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. Noticeably more giving when tasted one day after opening, showing hi-tone aromas of purple berries, purple grape mash, and earth notes. A succulent charge of black berry and black raspberry fruit flavors draw attention. Plenty of extraction to please, with added accents of black tea and nutty oak. 2014 Tessier After Hours California Pinot Noir 14.1% alc., 50 cases, $30. A blend of Saveria (Santa Cruz Mountains) and Morelli Lane (Russian River Valley) vineyards. Aged in neutral French oak barrels. · Moderately light cherry red color in the glass. Lovely perfume of fresh cherries, cranberries and a hint of spicy oak. Light in weight, but flavorful, with a juicy core of cherry fruit framed by modest tannins. A forward, easy drinking wine that has commendable balance and a pleasingly silky finish. Score: 89. 2014 Tessier Morelli Lane Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 14.2% alc., 95 cases, $39. Clones 114 and Pommard. Aged in 25% new French oak barrels. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Deep aromas of black cherry with a bit of dried herbs. A mid weight complement of black cherry and black raspberry fruits aims to please, accented with echoes of oak, and backed by ripe fruit tannins that are in sync. 2013 Tessier Winery After Hours California Pinot Noir 14.1% alc., 50 cases, $30. A tribute to the Velvet Underground and the last tract on their self-titled album, one of Kristie’s favorites: “If you close the door, the night could last forever. Leave the wineglass out and drink a toast to never.” 50% Saveria Vineyard and 50% Morelli Lane Vineyard. Aged in neutral French oak. · Moderately light garnet color in the glass. Uplifting aromas of cherry, cranberry and strawberry with a complimentary touch of dried herbs. Elegant and lighter in weight, but not wimpy flavor wise, with a juicy core of red fruits accented with notes of spice and a hint of red hots. 2013 Tessier Winery Morelli Lane Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 14.3% alc., 170 cases, $38. Aged in 30% new French oak. · Moderately light reddish purple color in the glass. Nice contrast to the Santa Cruz Mountains bottling, showing the typical luscious fruit the Russian River Valley is known for. Hi-tone aromas of Bing cherry, raspberry, cola and baking spice set the stage. In the mouth, there is a striking attack of intensely flavored fruit, primarily black cherry, with a hint of sarsaparilla, mocha and vanilla. 2006 Lost Canyon Dutton Ranch Morelli Lane Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 14.6% alc., <575 cases, $42. · The nose is closed down but with swirling subtle aromas of strawberry, barnyard and wood spice emerge. Red berry fruits, a little baking spice, a hint of oak and herbs make up the flavor profile. A bit reserved and shallow and a touch of green on the backend. Need to try again in six months. 2005 Lost Canyon Dutton Ranch Morelli Vineyard Russian River Valley 14.1% alc., $40. The vineyard is located in Green Valley. Clones are 115, Pommard and Beringer. · The wine offers an aromatic charge of cherries, spice, exotic woods and floral notes. Flavors of red and black berries, tart cherries and herbs are satisfying. A hint of oak runs through from start to finish. The texture is soft and the wine is easy to drink. Similar to the Saralee’s, but more shallow and possessing less punch on the backend.
