Noticeably more enchanting when tasted the following day from a previously opened and recorked bottle, when the fruit flavors were more intense and the wine was more outgoing. Score: 93. 2014 Big Table Farm Pelos-Sandberg Vineyard Eola-Amity Hills Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 13.6% alc.. This vineyard is a warmer site causing the grapes to lose some acidity as they ripen producing a more fruit driven wine. Pommard, 777 and some Wädenswil clone. Aged in about 20% new French oak barrels. Unfined and unfiltered. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. A mix of red berry and blueberry scents underlain with toasty oak highlight the aromatic profile. Nicely composed, with a mid weight core of juicy berry fruits accented with a smoky note. A slight smoky character is the signature of this vineyard which at least in part is due to the fruit (the same oak regimen is used for all single vineyard Pinot Noir bottlings yet the smoky note is more evident consistently in this wine). Plenty of whole cluster goodness stands out on the nose that offers aromas of dark berries, Moroccan spices, smoke and rose petal. A highly unique wine that doesn’t taste like every other Oregon Pinot Noir. The wine always has a characteristic smoke and manure note that compliments the flavors of dark berries, blueberries, pomegranate and spice. A nice fusion of black cherry and dried herbs lifts the nose. The sappiest wine in this vertical tasting, with a plethora of dark fruits, but lacking a bit of vibrancy. A glorious nose offers upbeat aromas of black raspberry, cherry, blueberry, spice, and espresso. This wine has more oak presence than I like initially, but the fruit intensity can take it, and the wine sheds its oak the longer it sits in the glass. Vibrant fruit flavors of well-ripened black raspberry and black cherry, nicely spiced. Similar to the Willamette Valley wine in flavor profile but more intensity, a longer finish, and a more seductively plush mouth feel. This wine grows on you, the longer you spend with it. Easily a ten year wine.5 Score: 94. Reviewed July 6, 2014 WINERY » ARTICLE »

2010 iOTA Pelos Sandberg Vineyard Eola-Amity Hills Oregon Pinot Noir 12.9% alc. 100% de-stemmed. · Light ruby red color with a slight orange tinge in the glass. A second bottle tasted was darker garnet with no bricking. Aromas of cherry, tobacco and cigar box. Light to mid weight in style with a core of cherry, raspberry and cranberry fruits framed by bright acidity and gossamer tannins interacting in harmony. The signature barnyard note is evident. The wine has a healthy finish, a satiny texture, and not much tertiary character so should hold to 2022. Score: 89. Reviewed September 3, 2017 WINERY » ARTICLE »
