Fog Crest Vineyard is a family-owned vineyard located in the Russian River Valley on a ridge above the Santa Rosa plain planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Established in 1998, the estate has a long tradition of agriculture, formally raising hops and apples. Soils are the locally famous Godridge-Sebastopol sandy loam long favored for Pinot Noir. The vineyard is planted to Dijon clones 95 and 548 of Chardonnay and Dijon clones 115, 777 and 828, and Pommard and Mt. Eden clones of Pinot Noir. Total acreage is 5.5 acres of Chardonnay and 3.6 acres of Pinot Noir.
The proprietors are James and Rosalind Manoogian who purchased their 30-acre site in 1997. For five years, the Fog Crest Chardonnay was made as a vineyard designate by Stryker Sonoma. The 2005 vintage was the inaugural debut as Fog Crest Vineyard.
The wines were initially crafted by veterans David Ramey and Daniel Moore. In 2014, Jérôme Chéry, formerly of Saintsbury, became the winemaker
The winery is open for tours and tasting by appointment (800-931-2906). 7602 Occidental Road, Sebastopol. The wines are sold online.
