Cadre Vineyards

Cadre is an innovative Pinot Noir made by blending fruit from four cool climate vineyards into a single wine that exemplifies the excellence of South Central Coast Pinot Noir. The four vineyards are Laetitia Vineyard (Arroyo Grande Valley), Firepeak Vineyard (Edna Valley), La Encantada Vineyard (Sta. Rita Hills), and Bien Nacido Vineyard (Santa Maria Valley). The Pinot Noir is called "The Architects" referencing the visionaries who planted Pinot Noir on the South Central Coast.
The new label with its first vintage in 2007 is a project by the Niven family who also own the Baileyana and Tangent brands (and Firepeak Vineyard). The winemaker is Christian Roguenant.
The website is still rudimentary and availability is limited through select retailers (1,231 cases, $55 for the 2007 vintage).

Vineyard (Santa Maria Valley). This wine has received some very favorable reviews in the wine press but it was
to big and ripe for my taste.

Ripe black fruits with a hint of oak and cut flowers on the nose lead to a thick and
inky wine on the palate featuring chunky black fruits that are a touch roasted. A good tannic backbone
supports the prodigious fruit. Decent.
