Monticello Vineyards

Jay Corley established Monticello Vineyards in 1969, inspired by the author of the Declaration of Independence and third president of the United States Thomas Jefferson. Today, the Corley family farms five small vineyard sites covering 112 acres in the Napa Valley that produce wines under the Monticello Vineyards, Corley Reserve and Corley labels. The Home Ranch Vineyard in the Oak Knoll District is the only estate vineyard with Pinot Noir (along with Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon). Pinot Noir plantings are heirloom selections and Dijon clones 113, 115, 667 and 777. A single Estate Grown Pinot Noir is produced under the Monticello Vineyards label.

Today, the winery produces about 15,000 cases a year, focusing on Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Three of Jay's sons, Kevin, Chris and Stephen share responsibility for the winery as the winegrower, winemaker and sales and marketing directory, respectively.

The winery's tasting room and winery are located at the site of the Home Ranch Vineyard. The tasting room is open daily. A downsized version of Jefferson's plantation home, Monticello, is available for private tastings and dinners.
