Chris and Cathy Weidemann met in 1994 while studying Viticulture and Enology at University of California at Davis. Following school and experience working in the Napa Valley and Monterey, they founded a small artisan winery called Pelerin. Pelerin is the French word for pilgrim. The motif refers to an old world traveler on his journey and is emblematic of the owner's quest to produce fine wines from the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation.
Chris worked as assistant winemaker for Newton Vineyard and later at Morgan Winery, honing his craft along side winemakers John Kongsgaard and Dean DeKorth. Cathy brings the business expertise to the brand, possessing an MBA and has worked as marketing director for Paraiso Vineyard. The pair have forged relationships with growers Gary Franscioni and Rich and Claudia Smith of Pariaso Vineyards, insuring access to very high quality Pinot Noir and Syrah for the Pelerin wines.

Moderately dark reddish-purple
robe. Fruity aromas backed by floral, wet oak and green notes. Oak-kissed dark
red fruits are tasty but lack conviction. Supple tannins, bright acidity and overall
a decent drink. Has a spark, but doesn’t reach excellence because of a
detracting green note most evident on the finish. Decent.
