Carter Vineyard is a 22-acre planting of Pinot Noir in the Eola-Amity Hills appellation of the Willamette Valley. A former cherry orchard, planting began in 1980 and finished in 2000. Clones are Pommard, Wädenswil, and Dijon 115, 667 and 777. The bulk of the grapes are sold to Ken Wright Cellars and the remainder is bottled under the Carter Vineyard label. The vineyard is managed by Mark Gould.

The Carter Vineyard Pinot Noir was launched in 2002 with Pommard fruit from the 3-acre Hillblock planting in the vineyard. This has continued to form the backbone of the Carter bottling.

The Hillblock Pinot Noir is sold on the website. The winery office is in Portland, but the owners, Jack and Kathleen Carter will provide tours of the vineyard by appointment (503-827-4086).
