Cairnbrae started in 1980 as a contract grower and began producing wine under its own label in 1992. In 2001, Cairnbrae Vineyards was bought by Sacred Hills Wines of Hawke's Bay. Located in Marlborough, Cairnbrae shares the east side of Jacksons Road with Cloudy Bay. The wines have earned a favorable reputation in part due to the terroir of the Rapaura district location of the vineyards. The winemaker is Christie Brown.
The wines are imported to the United States by Michael Skurnik Wines, Syosset, NY.

2010 Cairnbrae Marlborough New Zealand Pinot Noir

Planted in 1980, Cairnbrae started out as a contract grower, but by
1992 began producing Sauvignon Blanc under their own Cairnbrae
label. Purchased by Sacred Hill in 2001, Christie Brown was brought
on as Winemaker.

Moderately light reddish-purple color in the glass.
Complex nose displaying aromas of strawberries, raspberries, cherries, and
savory spices. A light and pleasant drink, offering a tasty black cherry and ripe
strawberry core with a hint of sandalwood and herbal oak. Lively acidity and
mild dusty tannins add to the appeal. Very Good.

neighbors the famous Cloudy Bay Vineyard. Winemaker is Christie Brown.

Moderately intense reddish-purple color in the glass. Cherry and red berry
aromas with floral and leafy accents. Slightly tart dried cherry and pomegranate
flavors with a green leaf note of under ripeness. The very bright acidity on the
finish clamors for food. The wine has some delicate charm but the fruit and
acidity are not in cinc. Decent.
