Coquelicot (ko-klee-ko) is the French name for the striking red poppy flower that graces the French countryside and the labels on the wines. The 58-acre vineyard located in the Santa Ynez Valley is organically farmed. Proprietor Louis Van Tonder began his career in the healthcare field, moved into the restaurant industry (The Sky Room) and finally realized his passion for winemaking.
Multiple red and white varieties are produced including Pinot Noir (an appellation blend from Santa Barbara County).
The winery's tasting room is located at 2884 Grand Avenue in Los Olivos in a remodeled vintage building dating to 1886.
