Barnett Vineyards is located at 2,000 feet elevation on Spring Mountain in the Napa Valley, Fiona and Hal Barnett created a vineyard and winery specializing in Cabernet Sauvignon. They released their first wine in 1989. Late in 2008, the Barnetts finished a 3,600 foot cave allowing barrel aging to be moved to the estate from the valley floor.
Limited amounts of Merlot, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are offered. Total production is 6,000 cases. The current winemaker is David Tate who comes to Barnett from Ridge where he as an assistant winemaker.
Pinot Noir grapes have been sourced from Savoy Vineyard and other vineyards in the Anderson Valley and the Tina Marie Vineyard in the Green Valley of the Russian River Valley. The wines are sold on the website with some retail distribution. The winery and vineyards are located at 4070 Spring Mountain Road, St. Helena. The phone is 707-963-7075.

2007 Barnett Vineyards Savoy Vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

Moderately dark reddish-purple robe.
Redder tones of fruit predominate in this impressive wine. Hi-tone
cherries and raspberries on the nose with baking spice and coconut in
the background. Discreet but charming flavors of cherries and red
licorice with an appealing viscous texture, supple tannins, and
admirable persistence on the finish. A purist may find this wine too fruity, even
a little confected, but I enjoyed it immensely. Very fruit-forward and showy at
this early stage.

Medium reddish-purple color. Aromas of cherries, Asian spice and oak char.
Cherry-driven flavors that are moderately mouth-filling. A lovely wine with charm but
showing a bit too much oak for my taste.

oak from beginning to end. Moderately mouth filling and nicely balanced, but a bit too much oak char for my
taste.

entirely to Dijon clones.

Complex aromatics dominated by blackberries and black raspberries complimented
by herbs, hay, oak and barnyard. Juicy and succulent dark fruits with an oak sidecar running
throughout. Rich and smooth in texture with integrated tannins. Well-crafted, easy to like and very approachable.
