Labyrinth Winery

Ariki (Rick) Hill is a New Zealand native and spouse of noted California winemaker, Lane Tanner. A trained winemaker himself, Rick launched Labyrinth in 2000 with a Pinot Noir from Bien Nacido Vineyard. A Yarra Valley, Australia Pinot Noir was added in 2002 (Rick received formal training in winemaking in Australia).

In 2007, the portfolio was expanded to include full-bodied reds from the Paso Robles region and a Bien Nacido Reserve Pinot Noir from the earliest (1973) plantings under the HAKA by Labyrinth label. In 2012, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir was sourced from the Presqu'ile Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley.

Eddie and Stephanie Schwartz joined the ownership of the winery in 2011. A tasting room was opened in Ventura, where wine education classes are also held. Wines are produced with both the Labyrinth and HAKA by Labyrinth labels.
