Pat Roney, who also directs Girard Winery in the Napa Valley, produces a line of premium varietals sourced from Sonoma County. The winery is part of the Vintage Wine Estates family of wineries. The Bordelaise wines winemaker is Marco DiGiulio who also heads the winemaking at Girard Winery. DiGiulio is a veteran who has had stints at Buena Vista Winery, Atlas Peak Vineyards, Pezzi King Vineyards, Pepi Winery, Lokoya and has become one of Napa's leading wine consultants. The Burgundian wines winemaker is Anthony Austin, who has a long history with Pinot Noir in California beginning in Santa Barbara County. A winery is being developed on the re-planted 40-acre vineyard estate, the Evelyn Parrish Vineyard, on Westside Road in the Russian River Valley.
The wines are sold through the winery's online store and select retailers. Vintage Wine Estates Tasting Room is open every day in Healdsburg.
2009 Windsor Sonoma Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
14.5% alc., 496 cases, $30. · Medium garnet color in the glass. Lovely and complex nose offering bright scents of black cherries, black raspberries, spice, pine and sandalwood. A blast of cherries saturates the mid palate maintaining an impressive intensity on the long finish. A touch of cola, pine, oak and roasted nut flavors add interest.
