Jean-Marie Truchard founded Lagniappe Wines to showcase distinctive regional styles of Pinot Noir. Her family has a tradition of winegrowing and winemaking in Napa Carneros. The wines are vegan. All profits are donated to animal charities and shelters.
Lagniappe ("lan-yap") is the French-Creole word for a "small unexpected treat" or "a little something extra."
The winemaker is Adam Smith, currently at Crushpad in Sonoma.
2009 Lagniappe Wines Split Rock Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
14.2% alc., $55. Crafted under the direction of Jean-Marie Truchard. · Moderate reddish-purple color in the glass. A floral nose with notes of savory herbs and subtle oak.
