2008 J. Keverson Haas Family Vineyard Sonoma Mountain Pinot Noir
14.9% alc., $32. · Moderate reddish-purple color in the glass. Noticeable legs in the glass due to the high alcohol. A bit shy, put pleasing scents of sweet raspberries, black cherries, biscuit, vanilla and oak. A rich, generous wine with berry, cherry and vanilla cola flavors that explode in the mouth and dance on the finish with tenacity. The tannins are reigned in and the alcohol is well-integrated. 2006 J. Keverson Labyrinth Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
14.5% alc., $30. Sourced from the Labyrinth Vineyard farmed by the Masons at EMTU Wines (see feature in this issue). · There is a tasty core of black cherry, raspberry and cassis here but the wine is dominated by oak. 2006 J. Keverson Labyrinth Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
14.5% alc., 210 cases, $38. · The wine leads off with sweet oak, blackberry jam, a leafiness and a hint of alcohol. Blackberries, dark cherries, tar, blood orange and vanilla carry the medium-weighted and noticeably oaked flavors. The textural impression is soft and clean and the finish has zingy acidity.
