Valley View Winery

In 1971, Frank Wisnovsky was a civil engineer who took a job laying underwater tubes for the Bay Area Rapid Transit system in the San Francisco Bay area. After the project was finished, he took a leave of absence and started looking for a site to grow wine grapes. The family ended up in the Rogue Valley of Oregon. In 1972, they planted 12 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Gamay and Gewürztraminer. The winery was the first bonded in the Rogue Valley since Prohibition. 12 acres were added in 1976, and both vineyards have since been re-grafted and replanted.

The first Pinot Noir was produced in 1979, but the region did not prove suitable for that grape. Most recently, in 2009, a Pinot Noir was produced from the Red Hills appellation of Southern Oregon which has a more favorable climate for Pinot Noir.

A tasting room is open daily from 11:00 to 5:00 daily at 1000 Upper Applegate Road in Jacksonville.

Next generation brothers, Mike and Mark, are now in charge of the winery.
