Jack Bagdade, an internist, formed Pike & Western Wine Merchants at Pike Place Market in Seattle in 1975. By the 1990s he had found Domaine Meriwether to produce world class sparkling wines. He recruited French winemaker Jean-Louis Denois who hailed from Champagne and their first harvest together was 1998. In 2005, Bagdade returned to his medical calling, and Ed Buzz Kawders stepped in to guide the winery and enlisted winemaker Raymond Welsh to continue the vision of the winery.
The winery produces sparkling wines and still wines including Pinot Noir. The winery is located in Veneta, Oregon, outside of Eugene.
