A second label of Joseph Carr wines, named after founder Joseph Carr's father. Joseph Carr had a career as a sommelier and international wine executive who wanted to create wines he thought his father would like. The label was launched in 2005 and is currently the fastest growing wine brand over $12.The wines are approachable but expressive and inexpensively priced.
Carr works with growers and winemakers across California. All Joseph Carr and Josh Cellars wines are produced at the Larson Family Vineyards in Carneros.
2012 Josh Cellars California Pinot Noir
13.5% alc., $18. Blended and bottled by Joseph Carr. Common on supermarket shelves in Southern California. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Aromas of black cherry, wood spice, nut oils and vitamin cabinet. Velvety on the palate with decent flavors of blackest cherry, black raspberry and blackberry backed by sweet oak, with notes of marzipan and green herbs in the background. The tannins are balanced and the wine finishes with a cut of acidity. Overall, the wine seems a bit weird but I can’t put my finger on the reason(s). Score: 85. Reviewed March 16, 2015 ARTICLE »
