The focus of this producer is Pinot Noir and most of the plantings in the estate 30-acre vineyard are Dijon clones of Pinot Noir. Launched by Albertan Curtis Krouzel and his wife Sherri-Lee Turner-Krouzel, 50th Parallel property was acquired in 2008 and vines were planted in 2009. A destination winery is planned for the future.
After ten years at Quail's Gate, noted New Zealand-trained winemaker Grant Stanley joined 50th Parallel as a partner, investor and winemaker. At 50th Parallel he will be able to focus solely on Pinot Noir.
