Different name, different people. Dan Schaaf, who thinks wine should be affordable and approachable yet not cheap or ordinary, and Aaron Olson, who thinks wines should taste good, smell good and feel good, are the two "punx" behind this label.

Moderately light
reddish purple color in the glass. Enchanting aromas of cherry, herbs and resin. Red fruits are featured with
the cherry taking on a Starburst flavor. The fruit is backed by hi-pitched acidity and accented with a riff of dried
herb flavors in the background.

2011 Deux Punx Elk Prairie Vineyard Humboldt County Pinot Noir
12.8% alc., $36. Harvested at 21ยบ Brix. Native fermentation,
aged in neutral French oak barrels.

Moderate reddish-purple color in
the glass. Very aromatic with bright, clean aromas of fresh red
cherries and berries, some rose petal, and a touch of forest floor and
bark. Middleweight flavors of black cherries with an interesting, even
intriguing, undercurrent of wood plank grilled fruit and veggies.
Different, but it works. The wine has impressive length on the finish that sails
along. Very smooth in the mouth and beautifully crafted. The tree on the label is
appropriate. Still impressive the following day from a previously opened and recorked
bottle.
