An established winery in Napa Valley that sits on 22 acres in the Rutherford Bench region. The Director of Winemaking and President, Michael Trujillo, has been at Sequoia Grove since its beginnings, joining the team in 1982. Winemaker Molly Hill oversees daily operations.
Sequoia Grove wines are made with 100% Napa Valley fruit from the original Estate Vineyard and the newly acquired Tonella Estate Vineyard in Rutherford. The winery is best known for its Bordeaux-style wines.
The winery's tasting room is open daily.
2012 Sequoia Grove Napa Valley Chardonnay
14.1% alc., pH 3.67, TA 0.65, $28. Grapes were sourced from vineyards in cooler regions of the Napa Valley. Aged 10 months sur lies in 30% new French oak. No malolactic fermentation. · Light straw color and clear in the glass. Enticing perfume of citrus, pear, pastry cream, spice and vanilla. Vivid on the palate with a core of fresh citrus flavors accented with notes of white peach and nutty oak. Easy to like and not overwrought with oak. Score: 90. Reviewed July 19, 2014 ARTICLE »
