Sheri Hood is the winemaker behind this small label. She participates on and off during harvest at Ponzi Vineyards. While attending Rutgers University, she became the Director of Promotions for Thirsty Ear Communications in New York City. Eventually, Sheri started Forever Changes Management and began managing bands. By 1998, she was burned out in the music industry and she moved to Portland, Oregon where she caught the wine bug.
Sheri worked harvest alongside Laurent Montalieu and the late Jami Brooks and was hooked on winemaking. She attended UC Davis and did stints at multiple wineries in Australia, New Zealand and Oregon.
The 2012 inaugural 224-case Pinot Noir release was from Rocky Hill Vineyard in the Eola-Amity AVA named "Smash It Up."
2014 The Pressing Plant Kick Out the Jams Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
13.4% alc., 815 cases, $17.49, screw cap. Vintner Sheri Hood is a New Yorker who managed rock bands for record companies before moving to Portland to make wines inspired by the music she loves. · Moderately light garnet color in the glass. Very nicely perfumed with spiced cherry and a hint of oak. The mid weight cherry core is inviting and supported by accommodating tannins. Nicely balanced, with a deft touch of oak and a gregarious cherry finish. This wine should find wide appeal at this price. Score: 90. Reviewed March 17, 2018 ARTICLE »
