Purple Wine Co. was best known for its 600,000 case Mark West Pinot Noir brand which it sold to Constellation Brands in 2012. Calista became its replacement Pinot Noir brand.
Winemaker Antonio Treviño first indoctrination into wine was at Rodney Strong Vineyards in Healdsburg, California. He now has his own label, specializing in Pinot Noir from multiple AVAs in California.
The name Calista comes from the mythical Greek goddess Calista who was a huntress that possessed grace, seductive charm and strength above all rivals. Calista translates to "most beautiful" in Greek
The Calista lineup of Pinot Noirs include The Coast Range, Anderson Valley, Russian River Valley, Edna Valley and Santa Lucia Highlands.

14.1% alc., pH 3.77, TA 0.56, 17,000 cases, $24.99. A
blend of Anderson Valley, Russian River Valley and Santa Lucia Highlands fruit. 100% de-stemmed, several
day cold soak, fermentation in small, open-top fermenters, twice daily punch downs. Aged 14 months in French
oak barrels, 30% new.

Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. The inviting aromas of dark red cherries and
berries lead to a middleweight, appealingly-flavored wine offering dark red and purple fruits that display some
persistence on the finish. The fine grain tannins rise up on the finish and oak peeks out over time in the glass.
A bit of alcoholic warmth shows up on the finish as well.
