Joe Swick got into winemaking when he worked as a harvest intern in 2003 with David O'Reilly. Later he made wine at Sineann and Penner-Ash in Oregon and Siduri in California. Two years making sparkling wine in the Yarra Valley and Tasmania, time at Niepoort in Portugal and Ceretto in Italy, a harvest at Felton Road in New Zealand and three years at Kosta Browne followed. Quite a resume!
Currently Swick makes wine at the Medici Winery in Newberg, also under his Swick label.
A NV Pinot Noir (a blend of 2011 and 2012 vintaages) was released in 2015, sourced from two famous winemakers who had premium Yamhill-Carlton juice juice that did not make it into their single vineyard bottlings. A one-off that is sold for $14 from Storyteller Wine Company in Portland.
