Napa-based Long Meadow Ranch (LMR) was started in 1989 by proprietors Ted, Laddie and Chris Hall who built an organic, integrated farming system, certified by CCOF, centered around winemaking, estate-grown olive oils, fruits and vegetable production, hand-tended bee hives, and a herd of grass-fed Highland cattle.
LMR acquired 145 acres in the "deep end" of Anderson Valley from the Corby family in 2015. The purchase includes 68 acres of planted vineyards, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris.
The wines from the Anderson Valley estate are made by Stephen Vivier, who joined Long Meadow Ranch in 2015 after working for over a decade at HDV in Carneros. Up until 2015, Long Meadow Ranch Winery had focused on Bordelais-style wines produced from the 16 acres of mountain vineyards on the 650-acre Mayacamas Estate and the 74-acre vineyards at Rutherford Estate, crafted by winemaker Sal Godinez.

Moderately light
golden yellow color in the glass. Pleasing aromas of lemon curd, pineapple, buttered toast, salted caramel and
vanilla. Endowed with somewhat rich citrus fruit flavor with undertones of vanilla and salinity. Viscous on the
palate, with acidity nicely folded in and a good cut on the dry finish.

13.5% alc., 2,500 cases, $40. Estate
grown, organically farmed using sustainable methods. Aged in French oak barrels, 25% new and 75% neutral.
Winemaker is Stephane Vivier.

Moderately light ruby red color in the glass. The nose offers a fusion of black
cherry and oak aromas, leaning more on leaf and vegetal notes over time. Modest in weight, with savory herb
flavor dominating, and a rush of tannins showing up on the finish.

2013 Farmstead Long Meadow Ranch Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
14.3% alc., $29. Grapes were
sourced from vineyards in Freestone. Primary fermentation in stainless steel followed by malolactic
fermentation in neutral oak barrels.

Moderately dark reddish purple color in the glass. Inviting
perfume of crushed berries, cherries, brown spices, herbs and sandalwood. Soft in the mouth, with
a pleasing attack of cherry and raspberry fruits accented with notes of cola, sarsaparilla, and savory
herbs. Commendable finesse and harmony, and easy to cozy up to.
