Three Thieves

A partnership between fifth-generation West Coast winemaker Joel Gott, New York-based wine entrepreneur Charles Bieler, and Anderson Valley grape grower Roger Scommegna. Three Thieves is a sly reference to both the trio's M.O. of "stealing" the best fruit out from others, and producing wines that are a steal for consumers.

The first project was wine in a jug born during the post-9/11 restaurant slump. Then they packaged wine in Tetra Pak, soon producing 70,000 cases of wine. The trio exchanged half the company with Trinchero Family Estates for distribution and sales management. Since then, the company has had astounding growth of 20% to 25% a year.

In April 2015, Three Thieves rolled out a single-varietal line in 750-ml bottles including Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon priced at $7.99 to compete with brands like Barefoot, Yellow Tail and Smoking Loon.
