Left Bend Winery

This winery was founded by winemaker Gary Robinson with the goal of producing distinctive wines from the many small vineyards scattered throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains. The name refers to the slight leftward bend in the San Andreas Fault which helped to form the Santa Cruz Mountains. Robinson has partnered with Richard Hanke, a fellow cyclist and wine enthusiast.

Robinson studied at University of California at Davis, worked harvests at local vineyards, and assisted in winemaking at Testarossa Vineyards in Los Gatos.

The winery specializes in mountain Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, but also offers a Pinot Noir from Muns Vineyard in the Loma Prieta area. The wines are sold through the winery website and a mailing list.

Tasting is available at 346 N. Santa Cruz Ave. in Los Gatos Thursday through Sunday.
