A large-scale producer of many value priced red and white varietals. The Classic Oregon Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris are priced under $20.
Founder tom Huggins joined eleven investors in establishing Oak Grove Vineyards. The first crop was harvested and made into wine in 1986. The following year, Eola Hills Wine Cellarsw released its first vintage.
The winery's latest qcquisition is the 162-acre Legacy Estate Vineyard property near Salem.
Three tasting rooms: at the winery in Rickreall, in downtown McMinnville, and at the estate Legacy Vineyard just east of Salem. The Pinot Vista Tasting Lounge in old town McMinnville has been renovated and features locally owned wines from Pinot Vista Vineyards, Eola Hills Wine Cellars and a collection of boutique wines.
2014 Eola Hills Oregon Chardonnay
12.5% alc., pH 3.23, TA 0.55, RS 6 gm/L, 3,718 cases, $13. Sourced from vineyards throughout Oregon. Harvest Brix 19.2º-24.3º. Fermented and aged in oak for 8 months. · Moderately light golden yellow color and clear in the glass. Like able aromas of lemon, mango and white flower lead to pleasing flavors of lemon, baked apple, brioche, creme caramel, toast and vanilla. 2014 Eola Hills Oregon Pinot Noir
13.4% alc., pH 3.90, TA 0.64, 24,500 cases, $19. Harvest Brix 23.8º average. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Very aromatic, with scents of black cherry and oak spice. Soft and silky in the mouth, with a discreet core of cranberry and black cherry fruit embellished with toasty oak, finishing with good juiciness. Score: 88. Reviewed July 9, 2016 ARTICLE »
