The Hunt family had a fantasy of living on a beautiful vineyard and producing their own style of favorite premium varietal wines. They spent considerable time in wine regions of California, Oregon and Washingtron, seeking a site to establish their vineyard. They landed in Paso Robles on a 550-acre site three miles west of 101 Freeway on Highway 46 West.
The vineyard was named Destiny Vineyards in honor of their baby girl named Destiny who was born in 1996. Initial plantings included Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah, Petite Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. The first releases were from the 1997 vintage. Pinot Noir is produced from sourced grapes.
A tasting room opened in October 1999.
