Bubo, located in Manteca in the San Joaquin Valley, is part of a family-farmed winery that has been growing grapes since 1924. Sustainable farming practices are important to the family.
Bubo is the Latin word for "owl," and the name of the goddess Athena's magical owl. Owls inhabit vineyards and are treasured because through their pest control they become stewards of the land.
The winery's Pinot Noir carries a California appellation and is priced less than $10. The 2014 vintage won Best of Class at 2016 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.
