Winemaker and Co-proprietor Steve Beresini moved to Napa in 1969 and was mentored by a local winemaker, Frank Cadenasso. Steve planted his first vineyard of 11 acres and sold grapes to Stags Leap. From 1975 to 1977 he managed 50 acres for another owner whose grapes were sold to Joseph Phelps Winery. Steve started at Phelps in 1977 as a cellar worker and left to eventually become the head winemaker at Niebaum Coppola from 1983 to 1991. In 1991, Steve became the cellar master at Grgich Hills and subsequently worked at Garvey Vineyard from 2001 to 2005.
In 1988, Steve planted a 7-acre vineyard in Carneros to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir (Black Dog Ranch) and managed an adjoining Pinot Noir vineyard. He sold his grapes to MacRostie Winery for 16 years. He later sold the grapes to other wineries and since 2014 all the Pinot Noir grapes are used exclusively for the Beresini Pinot Noir. The first Beresini Pinot Noir was produced in 2011. About 200 to 300 cases of Pinot Noir are produced per vintage.

Grown, produced and bottled by Beresini Vineyards, Napa, Ca.. 81% Swan selection (27-year-old vines) and
19% Calera selection (14-year-old vines). Harvest Brix 25.2ยบ. Aged 11 months in French oak barrels, 25% new.

Moderately light garnet color in the glass. Aromas of well-ripened fruit include blackberry liquor, blackest cherry
and Hoison sauce. Tiptoes to the edge of ripeness without crossing the line, offering luscious flavors of black
cherry, blackberry and spice with attendant toasty oak in the background. There is a proper balance of acidity
and tannin to accommodate the fruit load. The mouthfeel is smooth and the well-fruited finish satisfies.
