After founder Thane Hawkins had a successful career in the visual effects industry, he became attracted to the Willamette Valley and Pinot Noir. He began making wine in his garage, then worked harvest at Wine by Joe and became assistant winemaker at Methven Family Vineyards in 2007.
During travels to vineyards in the Columbia Gorge and eastern Washington, he developed an enthusiasm for big red style wines and decided to combine the production of Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir with Rhone and Bordeaux-style varietals.
