The Kooyong vineyard and winery are located at Tuerong on the northern end of the Mornington Peninsula, 80km south of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. In 1995, Kooyong was established on a gently undulating 93 hectare property neighboring Devilbend Reserve, home to many native water birds. The Kooyong name means 'where the wild fowl gather'. The vineyard and winery are part of the Gjergja family domain which also includes Port Phillip Estate.
Compared with more southerly vineyards on the Mornington Peninsula, Kooyong experiences a warmer, drier climate, and the light, sandy clay soil is also less vigorous than the more typical rich loam of the region. The winemaker is Sandro Mosele.
The wines are exported to the United States and worth a search to find. The lineup includes a Massele Pinot Noir, an Estate Pinot Noir, and three single-vineyard bottlings - Ferrous, Meres, and Haven.

established in 1995 by Chris and Gail Aylward. It’s Kooyong wines come exclusively from the estate’s 52 acres
of Pinot Noir (8 clones) and 27 acres of Chardonnay (10 clones). The Pinot Noir offerings include an Estate
wine, and three single vineyard bottlings: Ferrous, Haven and Meres. The winemaker is Sandro Mosele.

Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. The most distinctive wine in the lineup with aromas of dark cherry
pie glaze, forest floor and oak. The mid weight flavors of very ripe dark cherry and purple stone fruits are
clothed in oak, with an underpinning of iron-driven minerality. The wine sports admirable elegance with well
proportioned dry tannins and some finishing fruit goodness.

big fruit, big tannins and plenty of acidity. The nose is closed and the core of dark fruits is brooding.

triad. Very charming from start to finish with bright cherry aromas and flavors, spice and everything
nice. The lingering finish of spiced cherries makes your knees weak.
