Patricia Green Cellars is located on a 52-acre estate in the Ribbon Ridge district of Yamhill County. The winery was launched in 2000 and now produces 6,500 cases of a broad selection of Pinot Noir wines ( as many as 20) from far flung vineyards representing some of the better sites in the Dundee Hills, Chehalem Mountains, Eola Hills, and the Sonoma Coast (Hirsch Vineyard). Small amounts of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are offered as well. For 2008, Pinot Noirs are offered from Ana Vineyard, Balcombe Vineyard, Croft Vineyard, Eason Vineyard, Four Winds Vineyard, Estate Vineyard (including a separate Old Vines bottling), Whistling Ridge Vineyard. The Reserve Pinot Noir is the largest production wine. The Notorious bottling is a limited blend from the most exotic barrels in the cellar.
Patricia Green began her winemaking career picking grapes at Hillcrest Vineyard outside of Roseburg. She worked her way up to winemaker within 2 years. In 1990 and 1991 she was consulting for Ashland Vineyards and Girardet Winery and working crush at Adelsheim Winery. In 1992 she joined La Garza Vineyards as winemaker. 1993 saw her move to winemaker at Torii Mor Winery where she created her reputation over her six year tenure there for outstanding Pinot Noir.
The winery is maintained solely by the two proprietors, though the bulk of their leasehold vineyards are maintained by a crew of Hispanic workers.
Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noirs are available on the website. The winery's Sauvignon Blanc is a pleasant surprise.

Block remains the original planting done in 1973 by the Durant
family.

Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. Glorious
aromas of earthy black cherry, raspberry, spice and rose petal.
Deep cherry flavor with added tastes of red current and iron. A
complete wine that is very generous through the mid palate
and finish, with silken tannins and blessed acidity. Still
exceptional when tasted two days later from an opened bottle.

after early pick. Aged in 8% new oak. Pinot Noir sourced from a section of the vineyard planted in 1983.

Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. Aromas of blackberry, white pepper, tilled earth, toast, and espresso.
Earth-dusted black cherry and blackberry fruit flavors backed by toasty oak. This wine has a savory and gamey
wildness character that attracts. Unchanged when sampled the following day from a previously opened bottle.
Score: 91.

$60. Grapes are from the 1978 planting of own-rooted
Pommard.

Dark garnet color in the glass. Profuse aromas of
sous-bois, darker fruits and rose petal. Mid-weight plus in style
with the dense essence of blackberry, cassis and boysenberry
fruits backed by beefy tannins. There are hints of cola, black
tea leaves and oak. Somewhat rustic, with a mildly astringent
finish. Slightly aloof initially but more engaging when tasted
the following day. A good cellar candidate.

2019 Patricia Green Cellars Perspicacious Cuvée Freedom Hill Vineyard Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
13.3% alc., $150.
One fermenter of Dijon 115 from the Heritage Block. First effort
for this wine. 100% whole cluster fermentation. Aged in 25%
new French oak barrels.

Dark garnet color in the glass. Waves
of ripe fruit perfume including black cherry and blackberry along
with woodsy spice and floral lift. Richly fruited in a mid-weight
style sporting flavors of black plum, boysenberry and blackberry
with a rare beef, umami tone. There is quenching acidity and
wholesome tannins, and a very long finish with trailing tannins.
The whole cluster blends seamlessly into this wine. Spectacular
when tasted the following day from a previously opened bottle.
An excellent reflection of the terroir of Freedom Hill Vineyard
based on my experience in tasting many wines from this
vineyard.

2018 Patricia Green Cellars Medici Vineyard Chehalem Mountains Pinot Noir

Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. Gregarious aromas
of blackberry, boysenberry and spice upon opening. Mouth
filling richness in a mid-weight plus style sporting joyous, oakkissed
layers of dark fruits including blackberry and cassis.
The wine is caressing the mouth with defining tannins. Several
hours after opening, the wine had evolved into a gorgeous
Pinot in every respect with the endless echo of the scent of
fruit on the finish. This will easily be a 20-year wine in magnum
format.
Score: 95.

2016 Patricia Green Cellars Durant Vineyard Bishop Block Dundee Hills Pinot Noir

Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. Reserved, but pleasing aromas of black cherry and earthy flora. A
flood of luscious, well-spiced, black cherry and purple berry fruit flavors engage the palate with authority. Plush
in texture, with reserved tannins and a faint note of oak in the background. The finish is incredibly long,
exceeding almost every every other old vine bottling tasted for this article. Flat-out terrific when tasted the
following day from a previously opened bottle.

Moderately light reddish-purple
color in the glass. The nose is closed for business, only hinting at aromas of cherries and oak. Essence of
dark red berries and cherries with complimentary oak in the background. Smooth, with a good cut of acidity on
the finish which has some length. About the same the following day from a previously opened and re-corked
bottle. This wine is still tight and should benefit from cellaring. Fine but not exceptional. Good.

reddish-purple color in the glass. Oak-driven aromas of mocha java and biscuit. Middleweight flavors of oakkissed
dark red fruits with a strong coffee note. Mild tannins and easily approachable. The oak overwhelms
what otherwise is a good wine. Decent.

Medium reddish-purple hue in the glass. Shy, delicate aromas of pie
cherry glaze with a hint of java and dark chocolate. Very pretty core of dark
cherries and dark red berries with a topcoat of oak-derived vanilla and coffee,
showing a glorious finish that persists through several encores. Well-honed
tannins, a caressing texture and very evocative in character. Should improve in
the cellar. Very good.

Appealing
core of dark berries and dark stone fruits with hints of cola and citrus. Plenty of oak overshadows the fruit.
Soft in the mouth with brisk acidity. Decent.

13.6% alc., $39. From a 26-acre vineyard with non-irrigated vines
dating back to 1984. Mix of clones.

Moderately deep garnet color in the glass.
Aromas of dark stone fruits, oak, tobacco and a little barnyard. Oak-kissed black
fruits on the palate with an herbal underpinning. Nicely balanced with soft
tannins and a good acid cut on the finish. Decent, but not exciting.

From a unique vineyard site in western McMinnville. Very isolated, the vineyard receives a large maritime
influence. Owned by Jon Steinhart and Julie Donnelly. Pommard and Dijon clones.

The nose is dominated
by healthy oak char and toast. On the palate there is an intense attack of the taste of plum reduction sauce
finishing with a tangy citric and an oak and mineral-laden finish that lingers for more than twenty seconds.
