2008 O’Reilly’s Oregon Pinot Noir

13.0% alc., $17. This wine is consistently one of Oregon’s favorites in the under $20 price range. The Irish wolfhound on the label was a pub dog at an Irish restaurant and bar that O’Reilly’s cousin owns in San Francisco. Aged in 3 and 4 year old oak barrels. · A shy and refined aromatic profile of dark berries with a hint of spice. I liken it to fruit in a tuxedo. Tasty dark red fruits with a hint of oak framed by fuzzy tannins and ending in a dry finish. A bright and charming wine that works as a go-to drinker. Reviewed August 5, 2009 ARTICLE »

2007 O’Reilly’s Oregon Pinot Noir

13.0% alc., $17. This wine is consistently one of Oregon’s top value-priced Pinot Noirs and this vintage is no exception. David O’Reilly (Owen Roe) has crafted this wine for over ten years. The Irish wolfhound on the label was a pub dog at an Irish restaurant and bar that O’Reilly’s cousin owns in San Francisco. Aged in 3 to 4 year-old oak barrels. · Lighter and more feminine than is typical for this Pinot Noir but reflecting the 2007 vintage. Flavors and aromas of red cherries and cranberries augmented with minerality, spice and orange peel. Needs some time in the glass to blossom. Reminds me of the more austere Eyrie Vineyards style. 2005 O'Reilly's Oregon Pinot Noir

13.5% alc., $14. One of the first Oregon releases from the 2005 vintage. Winemaker David O'Reilly says this vintage is his favorite dating back to 1997 when he began crafting wine in Oregon. O'Reilly's is the second label of Owen Roe and is sourced from several small vineyards. · Very nice aromas of smoke, spice, and red and black fruits. Light in body, it has a great kick of spice on the back end. An excellent summer sipper. Reviewed September 5, 2006
