Mi Sueño means "my dream" in Spanish, a fitting name for winemaker and proprietor Rolando Herrera who arrived in the United States in 1975 from Michoacan, Mexicao at the age of 15, and began his career as a dishwasher at Auberge du Soleil before working harvest at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. Under the mentoring of vintner Warren Winiarski, Herrera worked his way from "cellar rat" to cellar master and went on to develop his winemaking skills at Chateau Potelle, Vine Cliff, and Paul Hobbs.
The winery is located in an unassuming corporate park south of downtown Napa. Herrara crafts limited production, hand-crafted lots of wine including Pinot Noir using native yeasts. Sourcing fruit from leased vineyards farmed exclusively by Mi Sueño, wines are vinified from multiple appellations include Napa Valley, Los Carneros, Russian River Valley and Sonoma Mountain, he produces Chardonnay, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Proprietary Red and Pinot Noir. A second label, Herrera, includes very limited releases of Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir.
The wines are available on the website. Tasting is at the Vintner's Collective, 1245 Main Street, in Napa (Wednesday-Monday, 11:00 to 6:00).

Moderate golden
yellow color in the glass. Aromas of lemon curd, honey, walnut and toast soar from the glass. Richly fruited and
well oaked, with a slightly creamy mouth feel, and flavors of grilled lemon, pineapple, fig, caramelized banana,
coconut, and honey. A flamboyant, Caliesque Chardonnay that is well done in this style.

2013 Mi Sueño Los Carneros Pinot Noir
14.5% alc., 915 cases, $42. Sourced from Tierra Blanca Vineyard
Aged 10 months in French oak barrels, 25% new.

Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. Leading off are
aromas of black fruit compote, fertile earth, dark chocolate, smoke and oak char. Gracious and juicy in the
mouth with a mid weight core of purple and black berry fruit with an earthy, mushroom undertone. There is a
firm backbone of tannin and a riff of oak in the background. A quintessential Carneros Pinot Noir that tastes like
it came from there.

2007 Mi Sueño Los Carneros Pinot Noir

The nose
is very appealing and picks up intensity in the glass. Dark cherries,
herbs and green garden are featured. Delicious and nuanced with
flavors of cherries, berries, earth, cola and mocha coming and going.
Soft and smooth with admirable persistence on the fruity finish. A
classic and classy Pinot Noir.

A very
distinctive ripe style of Pinot Noir. Unusual nose of roasted plums, oats,
maple syrup and brioche. Rich, ripe and plush slightly roasted flavors of
blackberries and raspberries with an undertone of root beer. Substantial
intensity with harmonious t n’ a and a lingering finish.
